Teahouse/ Tent campTrip Introduction of 13 Days Langtang Valley Ganja La Pass Trek
The Valley of Langtang Ganja La Pass, north of Kathmandu, is home to numerous hiking destinations. Langtang is a little valley that is just below the main Himalayan range on the north-Tibet border and a smaller range of snow-capped peaks on the south.
Exploring Tibetan and Tamang villages, climbing tiny peaks, and visiting glaciers at manageably low heights are all made possible by a trip to the Langtang Valley. A hike to Helambu via Ganja La Pass (5,200 m) begins in Kyanjin Gompa, the valley’s final Tibetan settlement.
The hike over Ganja La Pass is not simple. Trekkers can begin the Ganja La pass trip in the fall and spring.
An exciting and wilderness experience can be had by trekking over Ganja La Pass. The woodland along the trail is vibrant and bursting with rhododendrons if you are trekking in the spring. Using the Ganja La Pass to cross from Langtang into Helambu is a difficult task that calls for knowledgeable local guides and high-quality equipment.
There are no facilities for three or four days, so groups and their employees must be completely independent. Trekkers need to be competent and ready to traverse the pass, which demands specialized climbing gear. Before arriving at the glaciated pass, where ropes, crampons, and ice axes would be required, the trail winds through a tiny valley.

Altitude Sickness/ AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness)
Most people who are not used to going to high altitudes and who also exert themselves a lot during the Langtang Valley Ganja La Pass Trek can often be the victim of AMS. The altitude sickness or the AMS can occur from 3000 m and with the right precautions, it will be only mild and temporary in most cases. The symptoms of altitude sickness should therefore absolutely not be ignored.
If you happen to feel somewhat weak, shortness of breath during exertion, headache, constipation/diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, poor sleep, dizziness, and slight swelling of hands, feet, and face, this means you are going through mild AMS. In such a case, you should take it easy and get enough (night) rest. Sometimes, our guide may decide to take you down by 500 to 1000 m where your symptoms can sometimes disappear completely. Then you can try to climb again after a few days of rest. Regarding the prevention of AMS, you should always make a slow and phased climb. We have paid attention to adequate acclimatization so we have placed a rest day at Kyanjin Gompa followed by the short walking hours till we make it to the Pass.
When hiking, we suggest you always walk calmly, without getting out of breath, and drink water, tea, soup, and broth, but no alcohol. Also, breathe deeply and completely. You can also ingest Diamox (acetazolamide), a diuretic, which can help with altitude adjustment and reduces symptoms of altitude sickness by 50%.
