3 Star HotelTrip Introduction of 16 Days Island Peak Climbing
Island Peak, also called Imja Tse, is a well-known climbing peak that is exquisitely situated between Ama Dablam and Mount Lhotse on the summit of the Chukung Glacier. The elevation of the Island Peak is 6,189 meters (20,305 feet) above sea level.
Island Peak Mountain resembles an island in the sea of ice as it stretches the southern ridge of Lhotse Shar, divided by a tiny col. As a result, it was given the name Island Peak by Eric Shipton of the 1953 Mount Everest expedition.
This peak is ideal for first climbers because it is physically taxing but not difficult.
A good degree of physical fitness and a modest level of technical climbing knowledge are prerequisites for climbing Island Peak. We will assist you in honing your mountaineering abilities along the journey, and by the time you complete the Island Peak Climb, you will have acquired sufficient climbing abilities to conquer the Island Peak’s challenge.
After a 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (Gateway of Everest Base Camp), you begin your journey to Island Peak. The first steps of the path to Island Peak will lead you to Phakding after your brief hike from Lukla. The rest of the time is yours to do with as you please. We recommend that you tour the nearby monasteries.
You will have a day to acclimate before we travel to Namche Bazaar the following day. You will hike to Tengboche after acclimating at Namche. You will go to Dingboche and then Chhukung after spending the night at Tengboche.
The trail heads north from Chhukung to the high Imja valley and then to the south ridge base camp on Island Peak. Stunning views beneath the Nuptse-Lhotse wall may be seen from here. With the goal of reaching the summit the following day, we will spend the night at the Island Peak Base Camp.
We will rise early on the day of the summit and ascend a rocky ridge. Sherpa, you will be following our example. A snow headwall climbs to the peak just above the granite ridge. We shall simply follow this headwall of snow.
From the summit, you may enjoy breathtaking, dreamlike views of the mountains that form a semicircle in the north: Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Central (8,410m), and Lhotse Shar (8,383m). Makalu (8,475m) is located in the east, while Ama Dablam (6,812m) and Baruntse (7,129m) are located in the south.
You will feel a sense of accomplishment that will last a lifetime when you reach the summit of Island Peak. We will descend to the Island Peak Base Camp and then retrace our trekking track to Lukla after taking in all the vistas. A picturesque mountain flight from Lukla to Kathmandu marks the conclusion of this daring Island Peak Climbing adventure. For a comprehensive schedule, check the Island Peak climbing itinerary section below.
With enough time to practice using crampons and ice axes, this climb prepares you for climbing trips.

Attention
Just a heads up! During the poor climatic conditions, and in the pretty busy hiking and climbing seasons of autumn and spring, the Lukla flight from Kathmandu can be re-shifted to the domestic airport of Manthali situated at Ramechhap.
It will be about a 4 to 5-hour road journey from the capital for which we may have to set forth around midnight. So we suggest all our travelers arrive as early as possible in Kathmandu.

3 Star HotelDay 2: Flight from Kathmandu/Manthali to Lukla. Trek to Phakding (2,660m) Duration 4-5 hours
Depending on the hiking season, you will either take a flight from Kathmandu or Manthali to Lukla. Due to traffic at Tribhuwan International Airport, flights from Kathmandu to Lukla may be diverted to Manthali Airport during the busiest trekking seasons (March, April, May, September, October, and November). We will pick you up from your hotel at around 12:30 am and bring you to Manthali Airport, which is five hours away, so you can get a flight from Manthali to Lukla. The next flight takes about 20 minutes from Manthali to Lukla.
Another option for people who want to skip the Kathmandu-Manthali-Lukla route is to reserve a helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla. However, if five people split the cost, be ready to spend about $500 USD each to pay for the helicopter.
You will take a direct flight from Kathmandu to Lukla if you are hiking in December, January, February, June, July, and August. You will be driven to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for a scenic 40-minute flight to Tenzing Hillary Airport in Lukla following breakfast.
The routes lead to Phakding from the affluent village of Lukla. Since you will also be acclimatizing, today’s journey will be brief but enjoyable. You can spend your free time touring the nearby monasteries in Phakding and getting ready for the strenuous hike the following day.

Detail information about the trip
Responsible travel
We are adamant that we must safeguard our environment from the possible damage that tourism could do. Unsustainable tourism practices harm both tourists and the travel sector overall. Everest Summit Treks and Expedition works with the Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) to offer sustainable and environmentally friendly treks that meet the needs of both visitors and locals in tourist areas.
We encourage hikers to store their belongings in reusable containers and appropriately dispose of rubbish. We also make every effort to avoid polluting and conserve water. Having a water bottle with you is always preferable to carrying water in a bag. We try to leave campgrounds in a better state than when we arrived.
Everest Summit treks and Expedition Crew
Our local, certified, skilled, and knowledgeable guides/Sherpas will go with you on the Island Peak Climbing to make your trip even more enjoyable and unforgettable. One porter will be assigned for every two hikers, and a porter’s total luggage weight is limited to 18 kg. Our porters are never overworked. If there are twelve or more people in the group, we also provide an assistant guide.
Since our crew members are natives of the far-flung high Himalayas, they can survive there with ease.
We value each and every one of our employees. In addition to paying them well, we also cover them hotel, food, clothing, and insurance during the adventure. When they are hurt or ill, they get medical attention. We strive to maintain employee satisfaction because we think that only contented individuals can bring joy to others.
Our qualified guides possess:
- Government-approved Trekking Guide Training Certificate Intensive Wilderness First Aid Training Certificate
- Proficiency in speaking Spanish, Japanese, and English as well as other key languages
- Training in ecology and conservation Rock climbing experience
Tipping
Tipping is up to the individual traveler and should be commensurate with the level of service received, the length of the hike, and the cost of the climb or trek. Trekking is accepted in Nepali culture and seen as a sign of high-quality service. At the end of the journey, we invite you to tip together.
Procedure for making a reservation and paying
Everest Summit Treks and Expedition is a recognized, licensed, bonded, and authorized trekking and touring company by the Nepali government.
We belong to both the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN). Thus, you may confidently reserve the Everest Summit Treks and Expedition tour.
To confirm the reservation, a 10% advance payment is required. This advance can be paid online, by Western Union, or via bank transfer. After you get to Nepal, you can use credit cards, cash, bank transfers, or Western Union to cover the remaining travel expenses. We will also send you an email with payment information, including the possible payment methods.
Within a week of making your reservation, kindly provide us with the remaining paperwork, such as a copy of your passport, passport-size pictures, your travel insurance policy, and the details of your arrival and departure flights. There are not many domestic flights to Lukla, and the airport is quite crowded during the hiking seasons. Therefore, it is preferable to reserve flights on Lukla in advance.
Extension of the trip
You might choose to extend your stay in Nepal by a few days after the hike. We can plan a number of activities for you during this time, including the Chitwan jungle safari, the Nagarkot view excursion, the Kathmandu valley tour, paragliding, rafting, and canoeing.
Feedback
Everest Summit Treks and Expedition will provide a farewell dinner in Kathmandu following the Island Peak Climb. We will give you a hardcopy trek/climbing achievement certificate after the meal. This is also an excellent opportunity for you to provide us feedback. We will be able to better serve our future guests with feedback.
Helpful Information
As a precaution, we advise including extra days on your itinerary for your travel home. There are often delays in the flights from Kathmandu to Lukla and Lukla to Kathmandu. We will reschedule your flights in the event that there is a one-day flight backlog. Therefore, to prevent issues with your international travel back home, we suggest adding at least two extra days to your itinerary as a buffer. Depending on availability and demand, we can set up a helicopter at your request in the event of delays for between $500 and $1,000 per person. If there are no delays, we can plan extra activities for when you have more time in Nepal.
Please be aware that although the Island Peak Climb has set departure dates from Kathmandu, we are able to work with your schedule and special needs. Please check the departure dates you have been given for this climb, and if they do not work for you, let us know so we can set up your trek or climb for a time that works for you.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, such as inclement weather, inaccessibility, the unavailability of lodging and campsites, unanticipated governmental decrees, and poor trail conditions, the above schedule is merely a basic guideline and may need to be modified.
Even if there is little chance of an itinerary change, you cannot hold us responsible for any delays or the situations that result from them.
After discussing with the group members and considering the preferences of the entire party, your guide will make the final decision regarding any changes to the itinerary or the necessity of rerouting to other routes and locations.
Details of the Island Peak Climbing Trek Package: Arrival,
Welcome, and Trek Commencement
An Everest Summit Treks and Expedition representative will meet you at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport. A placard bearing your name will be held by our representative. Before driving you to your accommodation in a private vehicle, they will greet you with a customary garland. To finish last-minute preparations, you must come by 3 pm at least one day before to the start of the walk.
We will take you to Lukla by plane on the day the trek departs. Due to traffic, Lukla flights from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) may be diverted to Manthali Airport during the busiest trekking seasons (March, April, May, September, October, and November). In order to make the five-hour trip to Manthali during these months, our guide will pick you up from your accommodation at approximately 12:30 am on the day of the trek departure. You will fly to Lukla from Manthali for 20 minutes.
In December, January, February, June, July, and August, you will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla for 30 minutes. Therefore, we will drive you to the Kathmandu Airport early on the day of the trip’s departure.
Accommodations
Accommodations for the 16-day Island Peak Climbing adventure consist of one night at Island Peak Base Camp and thirteen nights in trekking lodges. You will stay in twin-sharing rooms in Lukla, Namche (three nights), and Phakding, all of which have attached bathrooms. More modest lodges in Tengboche, Dingboche (2 nights), and Chhukung (4 nights) will provide lodging at higher elevations.
Most lodges offer Wi-Fi, power for charging devices, and hot showers, but these amenities are paid for.
Since lodging in Kathmandu is not covered by the package, guests are free to select lodgings according to their preferences and financial constraints.
Meals
Over the course of the trek, we serve 13 dinners, 14 lunches, and 15 breakfasts. Every meal is served as the main course, or full-board. From Western foods like pasta, noodles, burgers, and pancakes to traditional Nepali cuisine like Dal Bhat, meals offer wholesome and sanitary options. The greatest ways to stay healthy at higher elevations are to eat fresh vegetables and drink hot beverages like green tea, ginger tea, and garlic soup. For hygienic reasons, we discourage non-vegetarian alternatives. Alcoholic, cold, and hot beverages (tea, coffee) are not included in this package.
Luggage
Ten kilograms of luggage are permitted for each trekker, and two trekkers may share a porter (20 kg maximum weight). For the length of the journey, extra luggage can be stored at the Everest Summit Treks and Expedition store in Kathmandu. As you will be sharing a porter with another hiker, we recommend that you bring your belongings in a duffel bag that holds more than sixty liters. Additionally, you should bring a compact backpack for personal belongings like jewelry and crucial documents.
Insurance for Travel
To participate in Island Peak Climbing, you must have travel insurance. Health care expenses and emergency helicopter rescue up to the highest hike height (up to 6,000 m) must be covered by policies. To confirm if emergency helicopter evacuation is covered by your policy, please give your insurer a call. Do not depend just on the content of websites.
Exchange of Currency
The Nepali Rupee (NPR) is the currency used locally. 1 USD is equivalent to about 135 NPR. In Kathmandu, please exchange your major currencies (USD, EUR, and GBP). In Kathmandu, banks and authorized exchange facilities offer currency exchange services. In Kathmandu, ATMs are also generally accessible, albeit there can be some limitations. Additionally, banks might not accept old, ripped, or faded bills, so please bring fresh, clean, and sharp notes.
Additional Costs
Meals and lodging in Kathmandu, visa fees, additional meal courses in the trekking districts, travel insurance, personal snacks, hot and cold beverages, Wi-Fi, and tips for the trekking crew are expenses that are not included in the package. Spend between $15 and $25 per trekking day.
Weather and Trek Season
With bright skies, temperate temperatures, and consistent weather, spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the ideal seasons for Island Peak Climbing. High elevations experience spring temperatures between 20°C and -5°C and fall temperatures between 25°C and -10°C. Temperatures range from 27°C to 5°C during the summer (monsoon) and from 15°C to -20°C during the winter (December–February). Nonetheless, we offer Island Peak Climbing all year long.
Last-Minute Reservations
We also offer last-minute reservations. If you make a last-minute reservation, you have to pay for the trip 24 hours before to the planned journey departure date. Make sure you have all the necessary travel paperwork before calling Paul at 977-9840222994 or sending an email to [email protected]. Even while we are prepared to plan a trek at any time, you cannot hold us accountable for any delays if you make last-minute reservations.
Tipping Culture
In Nepal, it is traditional to tip. At the conclusion of the hike, we suggest leaving a collective tip. Take into account the trek’s length, expense, and service quality while leaving a gratuity.
