3 Star HotelTrip Introduction of 19 Days Makalu Base Camp Trek
The Makalu Base Camp Trek, which lasts just over three weeks and finishes with the climb to Base Camp at 5250 meters, 19 kilometers southeast of Mount Everest (8848 meters) in the Mahalangur Himalayas, promises an exciting trip. Makalu is a huge mountain in and of itself by global standards. A tiny saddle (7200 m) connects its two prominent subsidiary summits, Kangchungtse (Makalu II, 7678 m) and Chomo Lonzo (7804 m).
Makalu is one of the most challenging base camp treks due to the several high altitude passes. The area is known as Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area. The beautiful scenery is sure to leave you stunned.
The actual hike begins at Chichira (1980m) and extends to the villages of Num, Seduwa, Tashi Gaon, Kongma Danda, Dobate, Yangri Kharka, Langmale Kharka, and Tumlingtar, from where we return to Kathmandu. Because the elevation increases daily and requires acclimation at certain spots, this hike is physically demanding and demanding. On the same day, we will cross other crossings at lower elevations, including Shipton La Pass (4220m). Barun Pokhari Lake and the Baruntse glacier are two of the many sights to be seen on the walk. The Khumbu region of eastern Nepal is home to Mount Baruntse, which has a height of 7129 meters. We visit Makalu Base Camp (5250), the journey’s highest point, after getting settled. This is a photographer’s dream come true!

Detail information about the trip
Accommodation
You will stay in three-star hotels in Kathmandu. During the tour, we will be staying at teahouses and lodges. Our guides will select the best camping spot with a beautiful view of the Himalaya, and we sleep in a very simple tea house or tent during the trip. There may not be any teahouses that are more upscale or more cozy.
Meals during the trek
All meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—will be provided while hiking, even if breakfast is part of your hotel stay in Kathmandu. In these alpine regions, staple meals include buckwheat, potatoes, oats, Tibetan bread, and Sherpa stew. The Sherpas started growing potatoes in the early 90s when the first seeds were shipped to the region. The dietary options are more restricted and primarily consist of potato meals at higher elevations. Potatoes are an excellent source of carbohydrates, which are a great source of energy needed at high heights.
Transportation
We take a private vehicle for sightseeing and for transportation from the airport to the hotel. During the walk, we are not required to take local buses or public transportation. We only offer flights from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and return.
Physical fitness
The Makalu Base Camp Trek is a strenuous hike that frequently requires six to seven hours of walking each day. Although prior hiking or trekking experience is required, it is usually advantageous if you have participated in any type of trekking activities. The voyage has brought us together with people of different sizes, shapes, and backgrounds. The only challenging aspect is dealing with altitude sickness and its potential physical effects. It is advisable to physically prepare oneself before departing for Nepal by increasing your oxygen intake and stamina.
Your Travel Extra Expenses
On this10 day Makalu Base Camp trek, you should be aware of additional fees beyond your trekking experience. The first thing you’ll need is a Nepal visa, which costs $30 for 15 days or $50 for 30 days. It is available upon arrival.
Aside from that, travel insurance coverage is crucial, as it will allow you to receive prompt and appropriate medical care in the event of an emergency helicopter evacuation. It should be noted that some personal expenses you may incur during your journey, such as laundry, phone calls, Wi-Fi, and charging electronic devices, are not included in the package.
You are responsible for paying for additional food and beverages, including mineral water and liquor. Kathmandu offers a variety of accommodation options, including 3-star hotels and luxury 5-star hotels. For a more personal experience, we will arrange helicopter trips instead of airlines and high-end hotels offering premium services.
Travel Insurance
Our Makalu Base Camp 19-day trek does not include travel insurance in Nepal. You need to purchase it yourself. If you don’t know good travel insurance companies, our tour company, Everest Summit Treks and Expedition, will also help you select the right option that covers all the required risks and needs while traveling.
You are required to have travel insurance compulsorily. Your insurance will cover your extra possible expenses, such as accidents, injuries, treatment, medical expenses, emergency helicopter rescue, theft, damages, etc., that can ruin your trekking experience completely. This travel insurance will enhance your trekking experience without making you worry about potential unexpected additional expenses.
