Detail information about the trip
It is good to know that Gokyo Lake is challenging with Renjo La Pass.
The high elevation, steep portions, and requirement for acclimatization and physical condition to traverse the 5,360-meter (17,585-foot) Renjo La Pass make the Gokyo Renjo La Pass trip a moderately tough to challenging trek. Renjo La route requires planning and a high degree of fitness to properly traverse, while not being the most challenging route in the Everest region.
The following considerations make the Gokyo Lake Trek with Renjo La Pass challenging: High altitude, which can cause altitude sickness if not adequately acclimated; steep ascents and descents over rocky terrain are a feature of several path sections, particularly those close to the Renjo La Pass. The trek is made more difficult by the unpredictable weather in the Everest Region, which can include snow and severe winds.
In addition, hikers must walk for five to seven hours every day for 14 to 16 days.
Cost of the Gokyo with Renjo La Pass Trek: 2025

Indeed, a journey that combines the Renjo La Pass and Gokyo Lakes is seen to be well worth the effort because it provides breathtaking views of Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain, as well as other high peaks like Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Lhotse, and others. It is a rewarding experience for both novice and seasoned trekkers looking for a strenuous yet picturesque high-altitude journey. Trekkers can also observe mountain glaciers and stunning scenery while traveling a less-traveled path in the Everest region.
The breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and other Himalayan giants that are seen from both Gokyo Ri and the Renjo La Pass are among the primary reasons to attempt this journey in Nepal. This path offers a distinct viewpoint of the mountains and glaciers in contrast to the typical Everest Base Camp journey, making it a special substitute for the greatest hikes in the area. Compared to the main Everest trekking routes, the Renjo La hiking track is thought to be less busy, making for a more serene and quiet trekking experience.
In addition to the breathtaking vistas, the route travels through a variety of terrains, such as steep ridges, glaciers, alpine meadows, and rhododendron forests. This already amazing trip will get a cultural dimension as trekkers will have the opportunity to visit nearby Sherpa settlements and learn about their distinctive way of life.
Height of Renjo La Pass: How high is Renjo La Pass?
Renjo La Pass is one of the most well-known high-altitude passes in the Khumbu area of Nepal, rising 5,360 meters (17,560 feet) above sea level.
Everest Renjo La Pass connects Lungden Village to the Gokyo Lakes area and is situated inside Sagarmatha National Park.
Renjo La is regarded as a difficult mountain pass as part of the Everest Three Passes Trek because of its steep ascents and descents, which call for a high level of stamina and physical condition.
Trekkers run the risk of developing altitude sickness if they are not adequately equipped. Therefore, enough acclimatization is essential for this Nepali trek. Renjo La is the only pass in the Everest Three Passes Trek that does not involve a glacier crossing, while Kongma La and Cho La are the other two passes. Trekking across Renjo La from Gokyo to Namche Bazaar in a one day is another option.
A 360-degree panoramic panorama of the Himalayas, including Everest, Cho Oyu, Nuptse, Makalu, and other majestic peaks, awaits trekkers upon reaching the summit.

However, we typically advise avoiding the rainfall season (July and August) and completing this walk during the good seasons. Vegetarian meals are served at the majority of mountain teahouses. Therefore, vegetarianism is not an issue. It is better to eat vegetarian food to prevent indigestion and food poisoning.

Throughout the walk, our guides are accessible for assistance around-the-clock. They know how to use an oxygen meter and have received training on how to use a first aid kit. They are well aware that oxygen levels decrease with altitude, thus they want to know our client’s oxygen level and whether they are healthy enough to continue or require additional safety measures.
To keep track of each client’s location and status, guides carry local SIM cards from Nepal Telecom and Ncell. In an emergency, our guides are on guard and stay in touch with the head office in Kathmandu, which is open around-the-clock to make arrangements for everything from horses to mules or helicopters, particularly when a customer is extremely ill in the mountains and needs to be taken to the hospital.
