Durbar Square in Kathmandu
The ancient Malla monarchs of Kathmandu once occupied this complex of palaces, courtyards, and temples, which was constructed between the 12th and 18th centuries. The 17th-century stone inscription, which is carved into the palace wall and has writing in 15 different languages, is an interesting artifact. The city’s social, religious, and urban center is Durbar Square. The royal edifice also houses three museums.
Swoyambhunath Stupa: The Temple of the Monkey
sits on a hillock on the western edge of the valley, keeping watch over it. The massive stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal and its building is tied to the creation of the Kathmandu Valley out of a primordial lake. Due of the large number of monkeys that call Swoyambhu home, it is also known as Samhengu and the Monkey Temple.
The city of Patan
In Patan, an old Newar city, one can see the Golden Gate, the sky-piercing temple of Taleju, the statue of Yogendra Malla, Krishna Mandir, Sati Temple, Hiranya Varna Mahabir (the golden temple), the ancient Durbar Square, Mahabouddha with views of the streets, old carved wooden windows, and bazaars.
Temple of Pashupatinath
Five kilometers east of the city center sits Pashupatinath, one of the holiest Hindu sanctuaries in the world. Lord Shiva’s revered Linga, or phallic emblem, is housed within the ornate pagoda. The temple existed before the year 400 AD, according to the Chronicles. The sacred Bagmati River flows alongside the temple, where devotees are observed taking ceremonial dips.
Boudhanath
Later, go to Boudhanath, a 2500-year-old Buddhist stupa in the Valley that was constructed in the fifth century and features four pairs of Lord Buddha’s eyes pointing in four cardinal directions, eternally monitoring the populace and their actions. Tibetan Buddhist pilgrims can be seen spinning the prayer wheels as they circle the stupa.

Most people ask about the trip - FAQs
Can the guide Speak English?
Yes, our guides speak English well. Most of them serve as porters for three to four years before becoming trekking guides. Their English language skills come from real-world experience rather than formal education. Because English is not their first language, individuals may not be as fluent as native speakers, despite their ability to communicate effectively. They will also facilitate communication, especially in situations where a large number of locals—including shopkeepers and teahouse hosts—may not speak English.
What is the best season for Kathmandu City Tour?
The best season for this tour is anytime between January to June and September to December.
How are the ATM and Money Exchange facilities in Kathmandu?
In Thamel, where you would be living in Kathmandu, there are ATMs and money exchange offices practically every few meters. Therefore, you can easily use your cards to cash out a certain amount of money, from which the ATM facility itself deducts a minimal charge. For a precise rate, you can quickly swap your foreign currencies at currency exchange centers.
