Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

The Kathmandu is one of the unique city in the world to explore. Today, we’ll visit and explore the top sightseeing of Kathmandu.After taking a morning breakfast; we’ll forward our steps towards PashupatinathMandir (Lord’s Shiva Mandir). It is a sacred Hindu site of Nepal. It is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva in the form of Pashupati as a protector and savior.

After spending some time there, we’ll drive to Swayambhunath Temple aka Monkey God Temple; a temple dedicated to Buddha, Manjusri and Harati. You have to cross 365 steps to reach the Stupa. After visiting this place, we’ll also explore Mahabouddha and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These all are unlisted by UNESCO

Day 3: Drive to Sotikhola from Kathmandu

Let’s start the trip. After taking an early morning breakfast, we’ll book a private bus, and our journey starts. The road conditions are barely good, so it will take around 7-8 hours to reach our destination, SotiKhola. This place is around 150 kilometers away from Kathmandu. Throughout our journey we’ll see elegant Gurung and Magar settlements, beautiful serene valleys, terrace fields, farmlands, and waterfalls. We’ll spend an overnight at a lodge.

Day 4: Trek from SotiKhola to MachhaKhola

Today we are going to stats our hike; so we start steadily. We have to cover approximately 5–6 hours of walking on day 4, as per the itinerary.
After taking an early morning breakfast, we’ll hike through stunning trails over several cliffs and ascents. locations like the settlements of Armala, Lapubesi, NauliKhola, and the like, Armala, Lapubesi, NauliKhola, and BhuriGandaki River. Lately, we’ve walked through lush forests and rocky terrain. By exploring the glimpses of Ganesh and ManasluHimal, at the end of the the day, we’ll reach Macchakhola.

Day 5: Trek to Jagat from Macchakhola Duration

There will be various ups and downs from the route of Macchakhola too Jagat, which will be quite difficult for beginner trekkers. You will go for MacchaKhola to Khorlabesi by crossing TharoKhola. Khoralbesi is a beautiful village of the Gurung’s group of people. Lately, you’ll reach Tatopani, where you can take hot springs. Then after crossing the BudhiGandakiriver, you’ll land your steps at the beautiful village of Doban.
Upon that, you pass through Yaruphant by following your steps over the Cantilever bridge. After hiking for approximately 6-7 hours, you will arrive at Jagat at the end of the day.

Day 6: Trek to Lokpa from Jagat

Our trek will continue on day 6. Our hike will take you around 5-6 hrs. After starting our hiking, we’ll pass through rugged landscapes and rocky terrains. Throughout trekking, you’ll be overwhelmed by seeing the impeccable views of Sringeri peak and other snow capped mountains. Lately, we’ll descend our steps to Sirdibas, which is a famous Buddhist settlement.

After couple of hours of walking, we’ll reach EkleBhatti. Before reaching Lokpa, we’ll also move through pine forests. At the completion of the day we will arrive at Lokpa. From this place, you’ll get the majestic views of Bouddha and Himalchuli peak.

Day 7: Trek to Chumling from Lokpa ( also known as Lower Tsum)

We are on 7th day of our tour. Today our destination will be Chumling aka Lower Tsum; its elevation is 2,390 meters and we have to cover the distance within 5-6 hours.
Following the same routine, we’ll start early and after taking breakfast, we’ll pass through beautiful rhododendron forests. After several ascents and descents, you’ll reach a suspension bridge. This bridge will take you to the Chumling village. By reaching this place, you’ll see beautiful Ganesh Himal. Besides this, you’ll also witness several Gumba and Buddha monasteries.

We will complete our trek today in 5-6 hours. Today our final destination will be Chokangparo, which is also known as Upper Tsum Valley. Today, our journey continues as we witness the Syar River and enter Domje, one of the largest cities in this valley. From Domje, we’ll pass through the village Rainjam and Gho to reach our destination. We will have magnificent views Himalchuli and Ganesh Himal after arriving in Chokangparo. Today, we’ll serve Tibetan bread/biscuits & butter. We’ll spend the night here.

Day 9: Trek to Nile/Mu Gompa from Chokhangparo time taken

On the 9th day of the ManasluTsum Valley trek (23 days), we’ll hike from Chokhangparo to Nile. This settlement is nearby the Mu Gompa monastery. Today we have to cover the distance in 6-7 hours.
Today, we’ll walk through Tibetan landscapes and Phurbe and Phangdung before reaching Nile/Mu Gompa. After reaching the Nile, we’ll get magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. We have a delicious meal and overnight stay at a tea house.

Day 10: Trek to Rachen Gompa from Nile

We’ll have the shortest hike on day 10. Today, we’ll relax, chill, and hike for just 3–4 hours from the Nile to RachenGompa. After having an early morning breakfast, we’ll descend our steps to Phurbe and finally reach the RachenGompa.
The RachenGompa is also referred to as the Rachen Nunnery. It is a famous and oldest Buddhist monastery situated at an altitude of 3,240 meters. It is a decorated site of Tsum valley.
This place occupies religious significance and was a sacred place for Buddhist nuns from the 19th century. This monastery is also admired for its intricate and distinctive architectural designs. One can see beautiful mountain scenery and valleys from this place.

Day 11: Trek RachenGompa to Chumling

We are almost halfway through the 23-day Manaslu Valley Trek. Today, we have to hike from RachenGumpa to Chumling.
After waking up early and having a delicious morning meal, we’ll start our ManasluTsum Valley Trek 23 day’s journey.By witnessing the beautiful scenery, we’ll pass through ChokangParo—a beautiful tiny village. We’ll be descending our steps to Chumling by now. Before reaching Chumling, we’ll come through a white monastery. Lately, we’ll come at the bank of SiyarKhola – a prominent place to relax and refresh. Finally, after hiking for 5–6 hours, we’ll reach our destination, where we have an overnight stay and food.

Day 12: Trek to Deng from Chumling

We are on day 12th of our Manaslu Valley trek. After having a breakfast, we’ll forward our steps towards the Deng from Chumling.
Our trek begins by crossing a Lokpa village via suspension bridge. Our trail follows a rocky terrain and ridge steeps. After walking for some hours, we’ll great am impeccable view of SiriHimal on our east side.

Lately, we’ll pass through farmlands and terraces of potato, maize and other vegetables. Passing a BudhiGandaki River and bamboo forests, finally we reach Dengi. We’ll have overnight stay at this place.

Day 13: Trek to Namrung from Deng

On day 13th of the ManasluTsum Valley trek, we have to cover approximately 18 kilometers of hiking within 5-6 hours.
After the alarm buzzes off, our day starts and we are ready for another impeccable day of hiking. Our trail is going to be less tougher. Today, we’ll ascend to Tom Khola to LontaChuta. Throughout our trek, we’ll witness rare animals like monkeys and langurs. Besides this, we also see a captivating rhododendron forest.
By continuing our walking, we’ll see BuriGandaki on our north side. After crossing this river, we’ll finally reach Namrung. This place was damaged in the 2015 earthquake, but in 2025, it is perfectly restrained and perfect for trekkers.

Namrung is the place where, you’ll found several Tibetan symbols and their monasteries. Today our hike will be 5-6 hours long. After starting our hike, we’ll pass through Budi GandakiRiver via suspension bridge and lushforests.

After walking for some time, we’ll see some agricultural land fetched on the hill side. The more you ascend upward more you get giant view of the Manaslu peak on your right side. Eventually, after walking for several hours, we’ll reach Lho. From the top of this place, you’ll get impeccable views of mountains and peaks.

Day 15: Trek to Samagaun from Lho

We have completed two weeks of ManasluTsum Valley Trek 23 days. On today trek, our hike will be completed within 4-5 hours. Our trail will start by admiring the majestic views of Manaslu. Subsequently, we follow easy trail by passing through Tibetan villages and Gompas. During your journey, we’ll see the brightest and smiling face of local people that will please your heart and mind.
Next we follow our steps by witnessing the elegant rhododendron forest the Shyapala trail. From this place, Samagaun is just 1 hours away. It is a stunning place to explore. Day 16: Acclimatization day at Samagaun

We are on the 16th day of our 23 days ManasluTsum Valley Trek. It is a beautiful place, situated at the lap of Manaslu. It is surrounded by beautiful snowy mountains and landscapes. The people of this place predominantly follow Buddhism and believe in their culture and religion.
Today, we’ll relax, chill, and wander around the Samagaun village. After taking a quick breakfast, we’ll proceed to explore this beautiful settlement. Firstly, we’ll see the Birendra Lake—a freshwater lake nearby the Penyuen glacier. Thereafter, we’ll explore monasteries like Pungen and Throngan. Ultimately when day ends , we’ll return to our tea house, where we have mouthwatering dinner.

Our hike is going to be less tough on day 17. We’ll walk around 3-4 hours from Samagaun to Samdo. Today we descend back to the BuriGandaki River by walking through the Manaslu Base Camp at Birendratal. Lately, we’ll explore a valley before landing our steps at KermoKhadka. Upon that, our walk will continue till Kani Gateway, which is the entrance point of Samdo.
If we get the permit, we may climb upwards the peak above the village to get the stunning views of Manaslu. At the end of the day, we’ll have an overnight stay at the tea house.

A trek from Samdo to Larkya La Phedi is a significant part of the ManasluTsum Valley trek. Today our trek will take us to the Makalu Conservation Area at the elevation of 4,500 meters.We will hike through the terrace fields and farmlands, walk along the Budi Gandaki Bridge, and eventually reach the Sando Valley.
Our trekking route will be challenging due to high elevation and sheer walking trails. Through our walking, we’ll see a diverse range of flora & fauna, wildlife, landscapes, and impeccable views of Mount Manaslu. After 4-5 journeys, we’ll reach Larkya La PhedikaDharmshala.

Day 19: Trek to Bhimthang from LarkyaPhedi – via Larkya La Pass (5160m)

We’ll have the longest and toughest trekking journey on the 19th day of the ManasluTsum Valley Trek. However, it is equally rewarding too. Furthermore, our path will be a steep and physically demanding ascent.
After starting in the early morning, we’ll climb slowly and steadily via the valley to the frozen lakes. By following this path, we’ll reach the top of the trail, where we’ll have picturesque views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak.
Upon that, we’ll forward our steps upward more; after hiking for some time, we reach to the Larkya La Pass. From this vantage point, we’ll get the striking views of mountain ranges: Himlung, Annapurna II, Mt. Kang Guru and Cheo.
After spending some time and taking photographs, we’ll move down from Larkya La Pass. The descent steps from Pass are challenging. The trail will be steep, rough terrain while we cross the thick moraine. Soon, we land our steps at Bhimthang.

Today we descend through a DudhKhola. By passing our trail, we’ll witness elegant rhododendron and pine forests, waterfalls, remote areas, and some traditional settlements. Lately, we’ll pass through farmlands and terraced fields before reaching Gowa.

Day 22: Drive to Kathmandu from Chamje (1,324m)

On Day 22, we’ll catch a public bus after taking an early morning breakfast. The journey to Kathmandu will need around 7 to 8 hours.. During our drive, we’ll cross via Trishuli and Marsyangdi River. After witnessing the Besisahar finally we are at the capital city of Nepal.

After reaching hotel, you can relax for some time. Meanwhile in the evening, you may buy souvenirs and gifts for your family from Kathmandu local market. At the end of the day, we’ll serve mouthwatering Thakali cuisine which includes Rice, lentils, seasonal vegetables, mutton/fish/rice, spinach, curd and sweets in desserts.

Is 23 days Manaslu Tsum Valley trekking possible for the beginners?

Manaslu Tsum Valley trek is arduous but not impossible. One requires proper physical health and fitness, but you don’t need prior experience.

The 23-day Manaslu Valley trek is feasible due to its straightforward learning process. Neither it is easy because it’s not a serving food on your plate. Your hike will be moderately streneous. You must have capabilities to walking 6–8 hours a day. Hiking to higher altitudes is much tougher than letting down your steps to the lower altitudes. You can easily conquer this trip if you are physically fit, strong, determined, and mentally conscious.

Moderate difficult – the path is fairly tough compare to Manaslu Circuit

Fitness & Health – You must need good fitness and excellent health because uphill climbs and bumpy terrain

Altitude Sickness – Altitude or Acute Mountain sickness would be crucial in this trip. If you possess any such health issues, you may choose to forgo the trip.

Altitude Sickness

Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the world, having an altitude of 8,163 meters. Throughout the trek, you have several uphill climbs and ascend to more than 5,000 meters.

When you go above 3,000 meters, the air pressure and oxygen level become low. As a result, trekkers may be suffering from acute mountain sickness, high-altitude pulmonary edema, and high-altitude cerebral edema. In addition, there are also signs of headache, nausea, vomiting, and difficulty in sleeping.

A normal tea house in the MANASLU region offers you twin shared rooms. However, you won’t get AC or a heater. Additionally, the toilet will be in the traditional Asian style. Furthermore, you have to pay $2 to $3 USD if you want to take a hot shower.
